Veterinary Nurses

Laura Wellard RVN - Veterinary Nurse/Assistant Practice Manager

My working life at Borden Lane Veterinary Surgery began in 1999, when I spent one day a week on work experience.

After leaving school I was offered a trainee position. In 2003 I passed my NVQ levels 2 and 3 and became a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse.  I have worked as Head Veterinary Nurse since 2004 up until I left to have my first child in 2011.  I returned back to work part-time as Assistant Practice Manager, but still like to do my nursing and see our clients.

My daily duties have changed now from taking blood samples, assisting in operations, laboratory work and caring for the hospitalised animals. I am usually in the office keeping our website, online shop, memorial page and TV system up to date and work on keeping our practice runing smoothly and professionally. I work alongside a great team of vets, nurses and receptionists and my colleagues share my commitment and enthusiasm to keep Borden Lane Vets the caring and professional surgery it is.

At present I have 4 cats: Ledley (who I hand reared from 10 days of age after he was found abandoned), a Bengal called Lilly, 2 very sweet moggies  Maximus and Lucky and my wonderful companion and friend, Gracie (my Doberman), who is the star of our TV in reception. My time now is mostly taken up with my son who was born January 2011.

Aimee Julian RVN - Head Veterinary Nurse

I started here at Borden Lane when I was just 16 years old.  I did my work experience and was lucky enough to be offered a part time position whilst I was at college.  Working here made me realise how much I wanted to be a Veterinary Nurse, so I went off to a vets in Ashford and did my training.  I have been lucky enough to come back to Borden Lane as a Qualified Nurse and work with other enthusiastic nurses.

When I'm not at work, I enjoy going to the cinema, dancing and of course shopping!  I keep fit by going to the gym as this is a demanding job at times.

You will be able to see me for consultations every Monday but am here working and taking care of your pets every day.

At present I have a Miniature Pinscher called Sweet Pea and 2 moggies called Alfie and Junior.

Sam Nathan RVN - Veterinary Nurse

I have been nursing since 1999.  I Qualified in 2008 after moving to a training practice to persue my dream to become a Veterinary Nurse and I love every minute of it.

When im not working I enjoy spending time with my Horse called Solo, at the cinema, body combat, eating out and socialising with my friends.

You will see me working every day and I do my own consultaions on a Wednesday, where I will see pets for weight clinics, stitch removals, identichips and lots of other advice clinics.

Apart from my horse who is 16 years old, I have a male Budgie called Bobby, who I nursed back to full health after being abandoned and very underweight and malnurished.

Rebecca Fox Dip HE CVN RVN A1 MBVNA - Veterinary Nurse

I began nursing in 2003 in a mixed practice and qualified in 2007. I joined Borden Lane Vets in the summer of 2010. I am please to say I have achieved my Diploma in clinical veterinary nursing, in June 2011.I enjoy all aspects of veterinary nursing, particularly nurse clinics and caring for the inpatients. I am available for nurse clinics on a Thursday

I have lots of pets, dogs, cats, horses, geese and chickens! My main hobbies include homework, reading, skiing, socialising with both friends and family, and attempting to get fit.

Gemma Oddy - Auxiliary - Trainee Nurse

I have been working with animals since 2004, gaining experience at other veterinary practices and also worked for the Dogs Trust.  I  joined Borden Lane as an Auxiliary/Trainee Nurse in February 2011 and am enjoying the knowledge shared with me from the qualified nurses and vets.  When I am not here I help the RSPCA  in Leybourne where I rescued my two cats "Domino" and "Herbie".  I spoil my cats so much and treat your pets with as much care and compassion as my own.

In my spare time I love to socialise and visit the gym, I have a passion for hand rearing and do my own consults alongside the qualified nurses on a Tuesday.
